For most addicts, like myself, relapse is part of the recovery process.

“Relapse should not be viewed as a failure; it is part of a learning process that eventually leads to recovery,” says Susan Merle Gordon, Ph.D.”

For the most part, we addicts have a difficult time accepting life on life’s terms.

Life is oftentimes unfair and cruel. It frequently entails heartache, disappointment, despair, and moments of chaos.

Recovering From Rape

I’ve personally seen the ravaging effects of rape.

Rape victims are not only violated sexuality. They are emotionally, mentally and otherwise tragically raped, robbed and beaten for many years to follow the incident.

They are sometimes even accused by their loved ones as well as our legal system who claim that the victim somehow ‘asked for it’ by the choice of their clothing, being too flirty, acting in some ‘unsavory’ fashion, associating with the ‘wrong crowd’, partying too much, choice of lifestyle..and the list goes on.

It begins as a fantasy. A thought.

It becomes an obsessive thought that soon grows too strong to fight. (compulsion to act upon the thought / fantasy)
