Tommy Douglas - The Man Behind Canada’s Universal Health Care

In a previous article at “Learning SEO Basics-Supporter of Ethical Marketing and Consumer Rights“, I had mentioned that Canada has free health care for their citizens. I first learned of this by watching Michael Moore’s “Sicko”. I guess I haven’t been as aware of worldy affairs as I should’ve been. That’s changing quickly.

This free health care concept is referred to as “Universal health care“.

So who’s great idea was it to implement this Universal health care to Canadian citizens?

It was Thomas Clement Douglas.

I traveled over to Andy Beard’s FreindFeed profile to see what was new in his world that I may not have seen.

I found this.

A story of a couple who’s son, now 20 months old, has what’s called, Leukodystrophy,  but instead of complaining about it , Matt (the father) is going to get his hands dirty by entering an ironman in Switzerland on July 13th, to raise money for The Myelin Project and European Leukodystrophy Association.

Healthy Body Healthy Mind

Healthy body healthy mind, as the saying goes.

For children, this can be easier said than accomplished.

It’s up to parents and adults to structure their diets, education, play and exercise regimens as best as possible to give them a good head start in life. Ultimately nurturing their vulnerable minds for a better tomorrow.

This is an age of video games, DVDs and technology of all sorts, which has an addictive ability to keep them removed from what’s most healthy from them if we allow it.
