Silver Alert System Petition
Kimberly Bock This is an update to the Irwin Talkofsky case (missing person) and a plea for signatures on a petition to establish what’s called “The Silver Alert System“.
Mr Talkofsky was supposedly found dead, and if all information is correct, he was found dead even before the missing persons post was noted here.
I received a phone reply from the CEO of Alzheimers Association who informed me about what’s called “Silver Alert System”, which is the same concept as The Amber Alert System. (she was not in a legal position to provide me with any information of Mr Talkofsky’s case. It would break confidentiality laws)
In situations such as Mr. Talkofsky, The Silver Alert System could be the difference between losing a life or just a few hours time.
I’ve asked Bill Slawski of Political Diamonds to write a petition, as he is much better at the technical side of this than I ever could be, that will address the urgency of implementing the Silver Alert System in the state of New York.
The deadline is the URGENT part. At most, we have until June 22nd 08.
The “Omnibus Alzheimer’s Services Act of 2008″ would both provide training to police personnel, and allow for the creation of a “silver alert” program, to help quickly locate cognitively impaired citizens who have been reported as missing, through reporting to appropriate state agencies, and to radio and other broadcast media.
Some things we cannot attain..This is not the case. We CAN make this happen.

Thank you for the chance to be involved in this, Kimberly.
If this bill passes, New York State will be the tenth state to have a Silver Alert program, and their passage of the law might influence other states to consider one of their own.
Please consider signing the petition, even if you are not from New York State. Letting legislators know that they have support from the public, even outside of their political boundaries, can make a difference.
Thanks

thanks for helping bill.
As a former Administrator of an Assisted Living Facility, I had the opportunity to work with the elderly. With over 7 years of experience in the health care industry, I now have have a deep love for the elderly and strongly desire that all will participate in this Petition.
I have a question though. To sign the petition do you have to be from New York? As soon as I know I will for sure sign this petition.
Garrett Piersons last blog post..Are you a Twitterholic?
You certainly can live anywhere and still have your signature considered. I was talking to Maryann, CEO of Alzheimers Association, and she told me that people are driving from Florida to New York for this even as well..Everyone’s opinion counts here.
Thanks for your participation Garrett.
