I have had the privilege of making friends with a very warm, spiritual, and encouraging 59 year old ‘Power Stumbler’ named Philip. PJA64X is his Stumbleupon username . This is what his profile page says:
“Welcome! I hope you find enjoyment and inspiration here. Please take what touches your heart. To learn more about me and my aims, please see my first 10 entries via my SU Archives index. Love, peace, happiness and God bless to you all. Philip PJA64X”
His overall theme is of a spiritual nature. But there is activism, helpfulness and friendliness too. Philip readily shares his knowledge, and even unites his friends to pray for you or to send you positive energy.
This is a list of his interests:
animals, animation, arts, beauty, buddhism, cartoons, cats, God, great-songs, helpfulness, humor, inspiration, Japan, love, Mandalas, movie-stars, movies, music, Native-Americans, nature, peace, photograph-collection, photography, poetry, politics, quotes, song, spiritual-wisdom, stumblers, universal-friendship, veil-unveil, video, women, womens-rights
I had been talking to wordsword about the negativity in Stumbleupon. She sent multiple people in my direction and this man was one of them. He always shares a kind word, word of hope for better days, and inspiration.
Without further ado I introduce you to Philip…
Q: Would you like to start the interview with telling me exactly how long you’ve been using SU and what led you here?
A: “I accidentally came across the SU extension while searching for Firefox extensions in early October 2006. I had only recently installed the Internet and knew virtually nothing about computers, Internet or even typing. But I found SU intriguing and started a site showing photographs from Flickr.
A couple of weeks later, having grasped the potential of SU, I deleted the previous site and began the present one on October 22nd, 2006.”
Q: What exactly do you mean by, “Having grasped the potential of SU..?”
A: “Most of my adult life has been spent investigating the nature of being and the universe, and practicing and refining my findings. I was born in Pakistan in 1948. Pretty soon I picked up Christian teachings at home and Sunday school. Muslim and Sufi teachings gradually influenced me via the neighbourhood, school and media. So did Hindu, Buddhist and Sikh teachings via school, Indian radio stations, and what is nowadays called the Bollywood film industry.
When we moved to Britain in 1964, I was astonished to find spirituality mostly absent in a supposedly Christian nation. Money, an entirely mindless belief in British superiority over all races and cultures, and a strange notion that science somehow would solve everything any day now, were the ruling gods. In the mid-sixties, as a student in London, I was appalled to find ignorance and superficiality rampant almost everywhere, with overt and covert prejudice against foreigners, women, lower classes, and even people from other regions of Britain. I was most disillusioned, especially with God and all the sages and prophets.
I realized then that I had to investigate the causes behind the unlimited human foolishness and suffering. So I set about doing just that around 1970 and, after a year or so of little progress, began to see things the way sages and prophets had seen them. I spent some fifteen years in deep study, investigation and experimentation and, from around 1985 onwards, began to help students of spiritual reality who showed up in my life.
So as I was showing photos from Flickr at my first site in early October 2006 and glancing at what most stumblers were doing, I had an interesting little inspiration. It suddenly dawned on me that if I said “NO!” to SU conventions and thought outside the box, I could create a site utilising my spiritual knowledge and conduct myself more or less exactly as I wished.
This is what I meant by grasping the potential of SU! The SU technology, combined with creative thinking, intelligent communication and pleasant interaction with good-hearted people, has allowed me to do my thing. Little by little, my site has emerged. Gradually, it has become accepted, and even liked by some, for its emphasis on inspiration, wisdom and positive energy, as well as general friendliness and helpfulness. I have also been rewarded with some really warm friendships, and many fine acquaintances.
SU has great potential for good, Kimberly, something its owners and stumblers at large as yet do not understand. But, gradually, they will!
I am generally aloof from the ways of humanity and knew so little about computers, Internet, and even typing some fifteen months ago. So, if someone like myself can have a unique and credible site promoting universal good and influencing receptive stumblers for the better, then so can numerous others in their own ways. The potential of SU is there to be tapped and used by anyone willing to tap and use their own potential for universal good. All that is required is the willingness to do so. If one looks within and strengthens one’s desire for creating a worthy site, the way forward will automatically appear!”
Q: Do you have any environmental interests?
A: “Yes indeed. All human problems interest me, because I understand the cause behind all human problems. So whether it is war, or man’s inhumanity to man and other living creatures, or the idiotic quests to control nature instead of living in harmony with it…or whatever…it all concerns me.”
Q: If you could see any one environmental issue addressed to better our present earthly conditions what would that be?
A: “Humanity’s external environment is controlled by its internal environment. Our beliefs, thoughts and feelings create our external realities because the universe is a spiritual rather than a material place. This is not only my own long-standing conclusion but also the assertion of every single sage or prophet. Even many scientists at long last are waking up to this great truth.
Humanity has endless problems because it does not recognize that it is spiritual by nature and is living in a spiritual universe. It is entangled instead in falsehood upon falsehood arising from materialistic perceptions. Moreover, it seeks to change the external by external means instead of correcting the internal.
So this, Kimberly, is the single most important environmental issue on the planet: We must all learn to correct our inner environments and keep our beliefs, thoughts and feelings in line with spiritual truths. We must do this whole-heartedly - and now!
Humanity has a lot to learn about itself and living spiritually. It also needs to learn well, for what it learns today will lay the foundations for future generations. Every little effort, every little bit, helps though - even this short interview.
I am always positive and optimistic, Kimberly, and I urge you and your readers to feel the same. For progress into spiritual reality is the way of the universe, and always has been, as my upward spiralling mandala icon indicates!”
Maybe we could all afford to think more like my friend.
If you hang out in Stumbleupon, stop by and give him a “hello”..He’s always got something enriching to offer to you, for you, with you..
