My Child Is Addicted, What Can I DO?
Kimberly Bock This is an address to thos who may have a child activley involved in substance abuse, namely Opiate abuse.
The article has potentially good advice, but I highly suggest that if you attempt to go about pumping your child for answers, you do so as they are ready and assess their willness to openly discuss things with you before you do so.
If they are reluctant and do not feel comfortable talking to you about what’s going on with their addiction, but yet you pursue them anyway, you are showing a lack of ability to work ‘with‘ them as opposed to ‘at’ them ‘to them ‘for’ them. They will most likely then be pushed into feelings that they are ill equipped to tolerate which may have been what stimulated the abuse to begin with, and will become more disconnected to the help they may have received.
Use caution. Prove your concern for THEM, not the drama of the abuse itself.
